The Silent “e” is magic
The silent “e” is magic! It makes no sound itself, but changes the sound of the main vowel! When a word is CVC (consonant, vowel, consonant) it makes a short vowel sound. When a silent “e” is added to the end (CVCe) it changes to a long vowel sound. There are exceptions to this phonetic rule, a few of them are: love, have, come, some, give, live, none, gone, one, glove, shove.
