Hello, my name is Matt and I have been living and teaching English in Singapore since 2006, just after getting my TESOL certificate and I have been in love with teaching English ever since. I really enjoy learning about Asia, its culture and languages, particularly Chinese, Japanese, and Korean. I always teach my class in a fun way and enjoy being able to come up with interesting topics that relate well with my students. I would say my favourite thing about teaching English is breaking down grammar in a way that is easy to understand.
Hello, I’m Amanda and I am from New Zealand but I was born and raised in Singapore. I really enjoy meeting friends and connecting with people. I love hanging out with my pets during my free time at home. And I love working out a lot such as boxing, gymming and yoga. My goal in class is to connect with my students on a personal level and help them to feel confident and comfortable using English. In my class, you will have the chance to speak freely and honestly, helping you to build and grow your real-life English!
Hi, my name is Alyssa.
I was born in Singapore but I have lived in several countries. I have a deep love for people and cultures and I am passionate about empowering and connecting people.
I enjoy connecting with people and learning about cultures of the world, which is why I love teaching English as a second language.
In my classes I make sure that my students feel comfortable and relaxed as much as possible. I do my best to cater to the individual needs of my students and find ways to make learning English fun and easy. There are lots of chances for practice, and lots of space for questions.
I teach both private and group classes, and look forward to meeting you!

Hello Everyone! My name is Rochelle.
I have completed my Master in Applied Linguistics and TESOL in Macquarie University (Sydney) in 2018 as well as Translating and Interpreting Studies for Mandarin and English. I was a certified insurance broker in an MNC company for a few years before I decide to heed for my passion to teach full time. I have at least 15 years of working experience in teaching students of different ages from diverse cultures and backgrounds around the world.
Being a Chinese Singaporean, who has been overseas for the past 10 years sets me in a position to assure you that I understand perfectly how it feels like being an international in a foreign country. I love it when my class is interactive and fun. I like to give creative ideas and tips on how to study a new language and living in Singapore.
An exquisite saying, “You can lead the horse to the water, but you cannot make the horse drink the water”, thus I always believe that it is imperative for the students to have a level of motivation to learn the language extrinsically instead of intrinsically. As long as you are willing to learn the language, I will use my utmost to teach!
You will never be alone to learn and be fluent in learning the language at ULC.
Hi I’m Gerry! Originally from Ireland, I spent eleven years living and working in Australia before moving to Singapore in 2004. I’ve worked in a variety of jobs and industries over the years, including chemicals/pharmaceuticals, sportswear, and hospitality. I’ve also spent many years as a professional singer & guitarist and I was performing regularly in venues around Singapore before the pandemic. I can no longer do that due to COVID restrictions, but I still occasionally do live streamed performances online and I am currently teaching myself to play bass guitar, flute and piano with mixed results!.
I gained my CELTA in 2020, during a lockdown, and I have been enjoying a whole new career teaching English since then, and meeting lots of fantastic people! In my classes, I aim for what I call my “Three E’s”, to ensure the classes are Educational, Engaging and Entertaining. I like my students to have a lot of fun while they are learning, whether it is in a group class or a private lesson. I look forward to meeting you in one of my lessons, in the classroom or online!

Hello! I was born and raised in Belgium to Swedish and South African parents. I studied journalism, tourism and majored in French and German languages as a translator/interpreter. After my studies I was hired by an international tour operator and sent to Honolulu in Hawaii. A few years later I married there and had our first son Jeremy. In 1996 we moved to Singapore, the country where my Eurasian husband originated from and had our second son Jonathan.
I used to work for a year at the Royal Belgian Embassy as a bi-lingual secretary but simultaneously took evening courses to become a tourist guide. I obtained my license at the end 1997 and was engaged by the tourism board to be a tourist guide handling the European media and events. Sadly starting March 2020, this position was no longer available due to the outbreak of COVID-19. Hence, I turned into the direction of teaching and am super grateful and happy I found this great school United Language Centre. It’s a new beginning in terms of career for me, but I’m very excited and dedicated to contribute successfully to this wonderful task as a teacher to any age group and any level.
Hello students, I am Abs from London. I worked in senior positions for large multinational companies (MNCs) across Asia, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and America for 25 years. I am an experienced trainer and teacher and my students quickly achieve outstanding results.
Learning a second language is scary for some students and so I create an environment in which students feel comfortable and supported. I also help students to be clear about their English learning objectives, so they achieve their English learning goals faster.
My classes are fun and interactive and focus on students’ needs. I specialise in Business and General English, vocabulary, and pronunciation from beginner to advanced level. This includes emails, meetings, and other business communications.
Hello students! My name is Andrew and I have been teaching English and business communication for more than 14 years to students from all corners of the world.
I love doing activities and pair work in my class. These help use new vocabulary and grammar in a more relaxed way that improves student’s English while they enjoy themselves. A relaxed student remembers more of what they learn and can use it more effectively in real life.
At ULC, one of my responsibilities is the Corporate English lesson program and we hope to grow this aspect of ULC. Part of this is reaching out to businesses to help their employees improve their English and business communication skills.
